G.K. Chesterton’s masterpiece, The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare<\/em>\u00a0will come alive as a high quality audio production with a full cast, original music and sound effects.\u00a0 Actors breath life in the characters, moving around in your ears, interacting with their world, and narrated by poet-turned-detective Gabriel Some.<\/p>\n

The idea was hatched in 2008, when portable decives and podcasting were gaining a foothold in audiences’ lifestyle. In the years since, podcasting as well as a new generation of audio dramas has established itself in the mainstream. \u00a0Originally, I stumbled across the book in 2001 while looking up classic detective novels. \u00a0I couldn’t of known then how this narrative would shape my life in the years to come. \u00a0I first adapted the story into a modern-day screenplay, then attempted to place it back in its historical context. Realizing that the hope of filming a movie of my vision for the book was out of reach, the idea for a radio play was born.<\/p>\n

Originally when this website first launched, the tagline read, “Coming in 2010.” The audio recordings were performed in the fall of 2009 and early 2010, in Downey, California, and a small audio booth at the old downtown building where the Los Angeles Times was located. \u00a0I’m grateful for the friends, talented actors and creative conspirators that brought these recordings to life. The joy that I feel listening to their generous performances has kept me coming back to continue to edit and mix this project, which has largely been a solo expedition in the late and early morning hours, spread out in short bursts over the years. \u00a0I also was carried by \u00a0the inspired musical compositions and encouragement from David Stanton.<\/p>\n
